The Verses of the Eight Noble Auspicious Ones

八聖吉祥頌

嗡ōng，現xiàn有yǒu自zì性xìng清qīng淨jìng任rèn運yùn成chéng

Oṃ. Homage to the Buddha, Dharma and Noble Saṅgha—

安ān住zhù十shí方fāng吉jí祥xiáng剎chà土tǔ中zhōng

All that dwell in the auspicious realms of the ten directions,

諸zhū佛fó正zhèng法fǎ僧sēng伽qié聖shèng者zhě眾zhòng

Where appearance and existence is completely pure, its nature spontaneously perfect,

頂dǐng禮lǐ一yī切qiè願yuàn我wǒ等děng吉jí祥xiáng

May everything be auspicious for us all!

燈dēng王wáng佛fó賢xián勇yǒng義yì成chéng就jiù佛fó

King of Lamps, Steadfast and Powerful One Whose Vision Fulfils All Aims,

慈cí嚴yán德dé佛fó善shàn名míng勝shèng德dé佛fó

Glorious Ornament of Love, Sacred Splendour Renowned for Virtue,

一yī切qiè義yì持chí廣guǎng大dà名míng稱chēng佛fó

The One Whose Concern for All Brings Him Universal Renown,

如rú須xū彌mí山shān聖shèng力lì名míng德dé佛fó

Glorious One as Renowned as Mount Meru in Eminence and Might,

垂chuí念niàn一yī切qiè眾zhòng生shēng名míng德dé佛fó

Glorious One Renowned as Caring for All Sentient Beings,

威wēi力lì吉jí祥xiáng名míng稱chēng遂suì願yuàn佛fó

Glorious One Renowned as Most Powerful in Satisfying Wishes—

僅jǐn聞wén聖shèng名míng增zēng德dé增zēng吉jí祥xiáng

Homage to you, the Eight Sugatas,

吉jí祥xiáng八bā大dà善shàn逝shì敬jìng頂dǐng禮lǐ

Merely hearing your names increases auspiciousness and success!

文wén殊shū童tóng子zi具jù德dé金jīn剛gāng手shǒu

Youthful Mañjuśrī, glorious Vajrapāṇi,

聖shèng觀guān自zì在zài怙hù主zhǔ慈cí氏shì尊zūn

Lord Avalokiteśvara, protector Maitreya,

地dì藏zàng菩pú薩sà並bìng與yǔ除chú蓋gài障zhàng

Kṣitigarbha, Sarvanīvaraṇaviṣkambhin,

聖shèng尊zūn普pǔ賢xián菩pú薩sà虛xū空kōng藏zàng

Ākāśagarbha, and Samantabhadra noblest of all—

青qīng蓮lián金jīn剛gāng白bái蓮lián那nà伽qié樹shù

Utpala flower, vajra, white lotus, nāga-tree,

如rú意yì摩mó尼ní寶bǎo劍jiàn日rì月yuè輪lún

Jewel, moon, sword and sun—

持chí善shàn標biāo幟zhì吉jí祥xiáng殊shū勝shèng德dé

Gracefully holding your emblems, and supreme in granting auspiciousness and success,

八bā大dà菩pú薩sà勇yǒng士shì敬jìng頂dǐng禮lǐ

Homage to you, the Eight Bodhisattvas!

殊shū勝shèng寶bǎo傘sǎn吉jí祥xiáng黃huáng金jīn魚yú

The most precious umbrella, the auspicious golden fishes,

如rú意yì寶bǎo瓶píng悅yuè意yì妙miào蓮lián花huā

The wish-fulfilling vase of goodness, the exquisite kamala flower,

悅yuè音yīn海hǎi螺luó圓yuán滿mǎn吉jí祥xiáng結jié

The conch of fame and glory, the glorious knot of prosperity,

不bù朽xiǔ勝shèng幢chuáng自zì在zài金jīn輪lún寶bǎo

The eternal banner of victory and the all-powerful wheel:

殊shū勝shèng標biāo幟zhì八bā勝shèng吉jí祥xiáng寶bǎo

Holding these eight most precious emblems

供gōng養yǎng十shí方fāng三sān世shì一yī切qiè佛fó

Are the creators of delight, making offerings to the buddhas of all directions and times.

僅jǐn念niàn嬉xī女nǚ聖shèng眾zhòng即jí增zēng祥xiáng

Homage to you, the Eight Auspicious Goddesses—Beauty, Garlands, Song, Dance, Flowers, Incense, Light and Perfume—

八bā大dà吉jí祥xiáng天tiān女nǚ敬jìng頂dǐng禮lǐ

Merely thinking of you makes success grow more and more!

大dà梵fàn大dà自zì在zài天tiān遍biàn入rù天tiān

Mighty Brahmā, Śiva and Viṣṇu,

千qiān目mù帝dì釋shì與yǔ持chí國guó天tiān王wáng

Indra the thousand-eyed, the kings Dhṛtarāṣṭra,

增zēng長zhǎng天tiān王wáng龍lóng王wáng廣guǎng目mù天tiān

Virūdhaka, Virūpakṣa the lord of nāgas,

多duō聞wén天tiān王wáng各gè持chí天tiān寶bǎo物wù

And Vaiśravaṇa—each one holding your divine emblem:

輪lún三sān叉chā戟jǐ短duǎn槍qiāng金jīn剛gāng杵chǔ

Wheel, trident, lance, vajra,

琵pí琶pá寶bǎo劍jiàn寶bǎo塔tǎ勝shèng寶bǎo幢chuáng

Vīṇā, sword, stūpa and banner of victory—

三sān界jiè增zēng上shàng善shàn妙miào與yǔ吉jí祥xiáng

Homage to you, the Eight Guardians of the World,

世shì間jiān八bā大dà護hù法fǎ敬jìng頂dǐng禮lǐ

Who make auspiciousness and positivity grow in the three realms!

我wǒ等děng如rú今jīn所suǒ作zuò諸zhū事shì業yè

With all obstacles and harmful influences pacified,

一yī切qiè障zhàng難nán惱nǎo害hài悉xī消xiāo泯mǐn

May the work we are now about to begin

順shùn緣yuán增zēng長zhǎng所suǒ願yuàn如rú意yì成chéng

Meet with ever-growing fulfilment and success, and

祈qí願yuàn吉jí祥xiáng如rú意yì悉xī圓yuán滿mǎn

Bring good fortune, prosperity, happiness and peace!

The Prayer Which Magnetizes All That Appears and Exists

嗡ōng啊ā吽hōng啥shá，

大dà樂lè熾chì然rán懷huái攝shè宮gōng殿diàn中zhōng，

In the palace of power, the blazing of great bliss,

樂lè空kōng妙miào觀guān察chá之zhī智zhì慧huì身shēn，

Are the embodiments of the wisdom of discernment, union of bliss and emptiness:

無wú貪tān具jù樂lè蓮lián花huā自zì性xìng出chū，

Each on a lotus, its nature bliss free from all attachment,

金jīn剛gāng太tài陽yáng具jù德dé大dà光guāng顯xiǎn，

And the splendour of a great, illuminating vajra sun—

法fǎ身shēn無wú量liàng光guāng佛fó金jīn剛gāng法fǎ，

Dharmakāya Amitābha and Vajradharma,

世shì間jiān自zì在zài悲bēi心xīn貪tān愛ài形xíng，

Avalokiteśvara, Lord of the World, the very manifestation of compassion,

輪lún涅niè駕jià馭yù尊zūn主zhǔ蓮lián花huā王wáng，

Padma Gyalpo, all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa beneath your control,

鎮zhèn伏fú顯xiǎn有yǒu大dà權quán黑hēi魯lǔ嘎gā，

Powerful heruka, subjugator of all that appears and exists,

秘mì密mì智zhì慧huì金jīn剛gāng亥hài首shǒu母mǔ，

‘Secret Wisdom’ (Guhyajñāna) and Vajravārāhī,

勝shèng樂lè金jīn剛gāng欲yù王wáng大dà樂lè藏zàng，

Döpé Gyalpo, King of Desire, ecstasy supreme, source of the wisdom of great bliss,

無wú餘yú眾zhòng生shēng所suǒ悅yuè作zuò明míng母mǔ，

Kurukullā, who captivates the mind of every living being without exception,

勝shèng共gòng手shǒu印yìn自zì在zài樂lè空kōng舞wǔ，

Masters and mistresses of supreme and ordinary mudrās, dancing in bliss and emptiness,

能néng懷huái金jīn剛gāng勇yǒng士shì空kōng行xíng眾zhòng，

Hosts of vajra ḍākas and ḍākinīs attract and magnetize.

於yú顯xiǎn空kōng大dà平píng等děng之zhī境jìng中zhōng，

Remaining always within the state of great equality of appearance and emptiness,

金jīn剛gāng身shēn之zhī舞wǔ蹈dǎo鎮zhèn三sān有yǒu，

With the dance of your vajra body, you cause the three planes of existence to tremble;

無wú滅miè語yǔ之zhī笑xiào聲shēng召zhào三sān界jiè，

With the sound of your laughter, your unceasing enlightened speech, you draw in the three worlds;

紅hóng色sè光guāng遍biàn滿mǎn輪lún迴huí涅niè槃pán，

Rays of red light burst out to fill all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa

有yǒu寂jì精jīng粹cuì震zhèn動dòng攝shè集jí之zhī，

And cause the vital essence of conditioned existence and ultimate peace to vibrate and be gathered in.

其qí以yǐ金jīn剛gāng大dà貪tān欲yù之zhī意yì，

With your enlightened mind of great vajra passion,

勝shèng賜cì二èr種zhǒng所suǒ欲yù之zhī悉xī地dì，

You grant the supreme of all things desired—the two kinds of siddhis;

以yǐ金jīn剛gāng鐵tiě鉤gōu與yǔ大dà羂juàn索suǒ，

And with your great vajra hooks and lassos

顯xiǎn有yǒu於yú大dà樂lè中zhōng作zuò繫xì縛fù，

You bind the world of appearance and existence in great bliss.

無wú邊biān幻huàn化huà網wǎng之zhī變biàn化huà具jù，

Dancers in the play of the limitless net of illusion,

如rú芝zhī麻má莢jiá開kāi啟qǐ般bān安ān住zhù，

Who fill space to overflowing, like a vast outpouring of sesame seeds,

浩hào瀚hàn三sān根gēn懷huái攝shè之zhī天tiān眾zhòng，

Vast array of the Three Roots, hosts of magnetizing deities,

恭gōng敬jìng祈qí請qǐng祈qí賜cì予yǔ加jiā持chí，

In devotion we pray to you: inspire us with your blessings,

勝shèng共gòng悉xī地dì所suǒ欲yù諸zhū祥xiáng德dé，

Grant us attainments, ordinary and supreme, and so the siddhi

能néng作zuò無wú礙ài懷huái攝shè悉xī地dì賜cì。

Of magnetizing, without obstruction, whatever we desire!

A Short Ritual for Taking the Bodhisattva Vow

arranged by Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok

祈qí请qǐng十shí方fāng一yī切qiè出chū有yǒu坏huài正zhèng等děng觉jué及jí

All you buddhas who dwell in the ten directions

十shí地dì菩pú萨sà摩mó诃hē萨sà众zhòng及jí

All you great bodhisattvas on the ten levels,

诸zhū位wèi大dà金jīn刚gāng持chí上shàng师shī垂chuí念niàn我wǒ

All you great teachers, the vajra-holders, turn your mind towards me, I pray!

Taking the Vows of Bodhicitta in Aspiration and Action Combined

乃nǎi至zhì菩pú提tí果guǒ

Until I realize the essence of enlightenment,

皈guī依yī诸zhū如rú来lái

I take refuge in the buddhas,

正zhèng法fǎ菩pú萨sà众zhòng

And likewise in the Dharma,

如rú是shì亦yì皈guī依yī

And the assembly of bodhisattvas.

如rú昔xī诸zhū善shàn逝shì

Just as the sugatas of former times

先xiān发fā菩pú提tí心xīn

Aroused the bodhicitta

复fù此cǐ循xún序xù住zhù

And established themselves by stages

菩pú萨sà诸zhū学xué处chù

In the training of a bodhisattva,

如rú是shì为wèi利lì生shēng

Just so, for the benefit of beings

我wǒ发fā菩pú提tí心xīn

I will arouse bodhicitta

复fù于yú诸zhū学xué处chǔ

And likewise I will train

次cì第dì勤qín修xiū学xué

Progressively in those disciplines.

今jīn生shēng吾wú获huò福fú

Today, my birth has been fruitful

善shàn得dé此cǐ人rén身shēn

I have well obtained a human existence.

复fù生shēng佛fó家jiā族zú

Today I am born into the family of the buddhas:

今jīn成chéng如rú来lái子zi

I have become a son or daughter of the buddhas.

尔ěr后hòu吾wú当dāng为wèi

From now on, at all costs, I will perform

宜yí乎hū佛fó族zú业yè

The actions befitting to my family.

慎shèn莫mò染rǎn污wū此cǐ

I will not be a stain

无wú垢gòu尊zūn贵guì种zhǒng

On this faultless noble family.

犹yóu如rú目mù盲máng人rén

Just like a blind person

废fèi聚jù获huò至zhì宝bǎo

Happening upon a priceless jewel in a heap of rubbish,

生shēng此cǐ菩pú提tí心xīn

So, through some fortunate coincidence,

如rú是shì我wǒ何hé幸xìng

The bodhicitta has been born in me.

今jīn于yú怙hù主zhǔ前qián

Today, in the presence of all the protectors,

筵yán众zhòng为wèi上shàng宾bīn

I invite all beings to the state of sugata,

宴yàn飨xiǎng成chéng佛fó乐lè

And, meanwhile, to happiness and bliss:

普pǔ愿yuàn皆jiē欢huān喜xǐ

Gods, asuras and others—rejoice!

The Series of Aspiration Prayers

菩pú提tí心xīn妙miào宝bǎo

O sublime and precious bodhicitta,

未wèi生shēng者zhě当dāng生shēng

May it arise in those in whom it has not arisen;

已yǐ生shēng勿wù退tuì失shī

May it never decline where it has arisen,

展zhǎn转zhuǎn益yì增zēng长zhǎng

But go on increasing further and further!

愿yuàn不bù舍shě觉jué心xīn

May they not be separated from bodhicitta,

委wěi身shēn菩pú提tí行xíng

But be always inclined to enlightened action:

诸zhū佛fó恒héng提tí携xié

May they be cared for by the buddhas, and

断duàn尽jìn诸zhū魔mó业yè

May they abandon harmful action.

愿yuàn菩pú萨sà如rú意yì

May the bodhisattvas’ good wishes

成chéng办bàn众zhòng生shēng利lì

For benefitting beings be fulfilled.

愿yuàn有yǒu情qíng悉xī得dé

Whatever the protectors have intended for them:

怙hù主zhǔ慈cí护hù念niàn

May sentient beings receive it.

愿yuàn众zhòng生shēng得dé乐lè

May all sentient beings be happy.

诸zhū恶è趣qù永yǒng尽jìn

May all the lower realms be forever empty.

愿yuàn登dēng地dì菩pú萨sà

May the aspirations of all the bodhisattvas

彼bǐ愿yuàn皆jiē成chéng就jiù

Of the various bhūmis be fulfilled!

The Sūtra on the Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom

般若波罗蜜多心经

In Praise of Prajñāpāramitā

无wú可kě言yán思sī般bō若rě度dù,，

不bù生shēng不bù灭miè虚xū空kōng体tǐ,，

各gè别bié自zì证zhèng智zhì行xíng境jìng,，

三sān世shì佛fó母mǔ我wǒ敬jìng礼lǐ.。

The Heart Sūtra

观guān自zì在zài菩pú萨sà,，行xíng深shēn般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō时shí,，

照zhào见jiàn五wǔ蕴yùn皆jiē空kōng,，度dù一yī切qiè苦kǔ厄è.。

舍shè利lì子zǐ,，色sè不bù异yì空kōng,，空kōng不bù异yì色sè;；

色sè即jí是shì空kōng,，空kōng即jí是shì色sè.。

受shòu想xiǎng行xíng识shí,，亦yì复fù如rú是shì.。

舍shè利lì子zǐ,，是shì诸zhū法fǎ空kōng相xiàng,，

不bù生shēng不bù灭miè,，不bù垢gòu不bù净jìng,，不bù增zēng不bù减jiǎn.。

是shì故gù空kōng中zhōng无wú色sè,，无wú受shòu想xiǎng行xíng识shí,，

无wú眼yǎn耳ěr鼻bí舌shé身shēn意yì,，

无wú色sè声shēng香xiāng味wèi触chù法fǎ,，

无wú眼yǎn界jiè,，乃nǎi至zhì无wú意yì识shí界jiè,，

无wú无wú明míng,，亦yì无wú无wú明míng尽jìn,，乃nǎi至zhì无wú老lǎo死sǐ,，亦yì无wú老lǎo死sǐ尽jìn,，

无wú苦kǔ集jí灭miè道dào,，无wú智zhì亦yì无wú得dé.。

以yǐ无wú所suǒ得dé故gù,，菩pú提tí萨sà埵duǒ,，

依yī般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō故gù,，

心xīn无wú挂guà碍ài;；无wú挂guà碍ài故gù,，无wú有yǒu恐kǒng怖bù,，远yuǎn离lí颠diān倒dǎo梦mèng想xiǎng,，究jiū竟jìng涅niè槃pán.。

三sān世shì诸zhū佛fó，依yī般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō故gù,，得dé阿ā耨nòu多duō罗luó三sān藐miǎo三sān菩pú提tí.。

故gù知zhī般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō,，是shì大dà神shén咒zhòu,，是shì大dà明míng咒zhòu,，是shì无wú上shàng咒zhòu,，

是shì无wú等děng等děng咒zhòu,，能néng除chú一yī切qiè苦kǔ,，真zhēn实shí不bù虚xū.。

故gù说shuō般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō咒zhòu,，即jí说shuō咒zhòu曰yuē:：

揭jiē谛dì揭jiē谛dì,，波bō罗luó揭jiē谛dì,，波bō罗luó僧sēng揭jiē谛dì,，菩pú提tí萨sà婆pó诃hē.。

Dokpa & Dedication

南nā无mó敬jìng礼lǐ师shī,，敬jìng礼lǐ佛fó，敬jìng礼lǐ法fǎ,，敬jìng礼lǐ僧sēng,，

敬jìng礼lǐ大dà佛fó母mǔ般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō.。

我wǒ之zhī视yī角qiè真zhēn实shí语yǔ,，当dāng愿yuàn成chéng就jiù.。

如rú昔xī时shí天tiān王wáng帝dì释shì思sī维wéi大dà佛fó母mǔ甚shèn深shēn般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō义yì,，依yī止zhǐ念niàn诵sòng而ér遣qiǎn除chú魔mó王wáng波bō旬xún等děng一yī切qiè违wéi缘yuán.。

如rú是shì我wǒ亦yì思sī维wéi大dà佛fó母mǔ甚shèn深shēn般bō若rě波bō罗luó蜜mì多duō义yì,，依yī止zhǐ念niàn诵sòng,，

魔mó王wáng波bō旬xún等děng一yī切qiè违wéi缘yuán，愿yuàn皆jiē遣qiǎn除chú， (击掌)

愿yuàn成chéng无wú有yǒu,， (击掌)

愿yuàn成chéng寂jì灭miè,， (击掌)

愿yuàn极jí寂jì灭miè.。 (击掌)

不bù生shēng亦yì不bù灭miè,，不bù常cháng亦yì不bù断duàn,，

不bù来lái亦yì不bù去qù,，不bù一yī亦yì不bù异yì.。

能néng说shuō是shì因yīn缘yuán，善shàn灭miè诸zhū戏xì论lùn，

我wǒ稽jī首shǒu礼lǐ佛fó。

非fēi时shí八bā死sǐ祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

上shàng方fāng欲yù魔mó祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

下xià方fāng慢màn魔mó祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

当dāng前qián仇chóu敌dí祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

祖zǔ上shàng尸shī魅mèi祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

人rén之zhī疾jí病bìng祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

牲shēng畜chù损sǔn亡wáng祈qí回huí遮zhē (击掌)

化huà现xiàn狮shī面miàn佛fó母mǔ相xiāng无wú余yú遮zhē除chú诸zhū诅zǔ咒zhòu

啊ā嘎gā萨sà玛mǎRAra匝zā夏xià达dáRAra萨sà玛mǎRAra呀ya呸pēi

夏xià朴pǔ沃wò东dōng汤tāng加jiā玛mǎRAra呀ya赳jiū赳jiū哆duō哆duō

炽chì燃rán愤fèn怒nù母mǔ诸zhū尊zūn

将jiāng彼bǐ一yī切qiè作zuò障zhàng者zhě

其qí身shēn与yǔ语yǔ碎suì为wéi尘chén

心xīn识shí解jiě脱tuō法fǎ界jiè中zhōng

诵sòng您nín明míng咒zhòu之zhī威wēi力lì

无wú余yú寂jì灭miè诸zhū损sǔn害hài

心xīn想xiǎng如rú意yì得dé成chéng办bàn

讲jiǎng修xiū事shì业yè愿yuàn增zēng上shàng

Dedication

བསོད་ནམས་འདི་ཡིས་ཐམས་ཅད་གཟིགས་པ་ཉིད། །

sönam di yi tamché zikpa nyi

Through this merit, may all beings attain the omniscient state of enlightenment

ཐོབ་ནས་ཉེས་པའི་དགྲ་རྣམས་ཕམ་བྱས་ཤིང༌། །

top né nyépé dra nam pam jé shing

And conquer the enemy, faults and delusion.

སྐྱེ་རྒ་ན་འཆིའི་རྦ་ཀློང་འཁྲུགས་པ་ཡི། །

kyé ga na chi balong trukpa yi

May they all be liberated from this ocean of saṃsāra

སྲིད་པའི་མཚོ་ལས་འགྲོ་བ་སྒྲོལ་བར་ཤོག །

sipé tso lé drowa drolwar shok

And from its pounding waves of birth, old age, sickness, and death!

སངས་རྒྱས་སྐུ་གསུམ་བརྙེས་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང་། །

sangye ku sum nyepé jinlab dang

By the blessings of the buddhas who have attained the three kāyas,

ཆོས་ཉིད་མི་འགྱུར་བདེན་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་དང་། །

chönyi mingyur denpé jinlab dang

And the unchanging truth of reality

དགེ་འདུན་མི་ཕྱེད་འདུན་པའི་བྱིན་རླབས་ཀྱིས། །

gendün miché dünpé jinlab kyi

As well as the unwavering aspirations of the Saṅgha,

ཇི་ལྟར་བསྔོས་བཞིན་སྨོན་ལམ་འགྲུབ་པར་ཤོག །

jitar ngö zhin mönlam drubpar shok

May all the aspirations and dedication prayers be fulfilled!

ཏདྱ་ཐཱ། པཉྩནྡྲི་ཡ་ཨ་ཝ་བོ་དྷ་ན་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ། །

无wú欺qī三sān宝bǎo如rú海hǎi之zhī发fā心xīn

With the ocean-like aspirations of the infallible Triple Gem and

邬wū金jīn莲lián花huā生shēng师shī加jiā持chí谛dì

by the blessings of Orgyen Guru Rinpoche, Padmasambhava,

如rú同tóng观guān世shì音yīn尊zūn如rú来lái芽yá

May you fulfill the activities for the Buddha Dharma and all sentient beings,

愿yuàn对duì佛fó法fǎ众zhòng生shēng作zuò事shì业yè
